<p><strong>Finance & Operations Manager</strong></p><p> Part-time| 20-28 hours per week on-site</p><p> $38-43/hour | Reports to Executive Director</p><p>Downtown San Jose, CA</p><p><br></p><p>Position Summary</p><p>The Finance & Operations Manager serves as the operational backbone of Recovery Cafe San Jose, helping ensure the organization runs smoothly, responsibly, and with care. This role oversees day-to-day financial administration, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, facilities operations, and core people operations for a growing nonprofit recovery community serving nearly 700 individuals annually.</p><p><br></p><p>Working closely with the Executive Director, the Finance & Operations Manager provides steady operational leadership and practical problem-solving across the organization. The ideal candidate is highly organized, emotionally grounded, and comfortable in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.</p><p><br></p><p>This role is well-suited for an experienced professional who values meaningful work, takes ownership naturally, and wants to contribute to a compassionate and community-centered organization.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Finance & Bookkeeping</strong></p><ul><li>Day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online — accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reports.</li><li>Payroll processing and compliance. You’ll be the person leadership relies on to keep our financial picture accurate and up to date.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>People Operations</strong></p><p>HR essentials for our 10-20 person team: onboarding new hires, managing exits, maintaining employee records, and serving as the point of contact for HR documentation and staff questions.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Facilities & Operations</strong></p><p>Primary liaison with our host church’s facilities manager for space needs, maintenance, and scheduling. You’ll manage preventive maintenance schedules for our kitchen and coffee bar equipment, and make sure the physical space reflects the care we put into everything else.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Operational Leadership</strong></p><p>When the executive director is out, you’re the steady presence keeping things moving.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Who We’re Looking For</strong></p><ul><li>A seasoned professional — we warmly welcome mid-career changers, people returning to work, and retirees with relevant experience</li><li>Proficiency in QuickBooks Online; comfortable with payroll software (Paychex)</li><li>HR administration experience, ideally in a small nonprofit, community organization, or people-centered business</li><li>Comfortable coordinating vendors, tradespeople, and facilities partners independently — you don’t wait to be told when something needs fixing</li><li>Sound judgment and a calm, grounded presence — this role requires someone others naturally trust</li><li>Genuine alignment with Recovery Cafe San Jose’s mission; lived experience of recovery — your own or a loved one’s — is always welcome here</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>To Apply</strong></p><p>Recovery Cafe San Jose is an equal opportunity employer.
