JOB TITLE: Moderate/Severe Special Day Class Teacher<br><br>JOB PURPOSE/STATEMENT/S: Provides a functional educational program for student who may have moderate to severe needs in more than one area and encompass a variety of handicapping conditions, with emphasis on survival skills, self-help skills, basic learning skills, basic subject skills, social competence, career education skills, and emotional security as appropriate. Under the guidance and direction of the Director, Student Services and immediately responsible to the Director, Student Services and School Principal while on school site.<br><br><strong>Essential Job Functions<br><br></strong><ul><li> Provides appropriate physical and supportive psychological environment for students identified and place in the program.</li><li> Instructs pupils in citizenship and other general elements of the course of study specified in State law and administrative regulations, goals and procedures of the School district.</li><li> Provides individualized and small-group instruction with emphasis on survival skills, self-help skills, basic skills and other skills as described in the pupils Individualized Educational Program.</li><li> Provides a learning environment in which emphasis is placed upon the development of a positive self-concept.</li><li> Establishes and maintains a climate for development of pupil behavior needed to achieve the students individualized instructional objectives within the classroom.</li><li> Supports and encourages frequent parent and intra-professional conferences aimed at a realistic plan of remediation and progress.</li><li> Attempts to identify pupil needs and cooperates with other staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.</li><li> Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education and self-selected professional activities.</li><li> Performs basic attendance accounting as required.</li><li> Shares in the supervision of own pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.</li><li> Attends regular and special meetings called by Principal, or Director, Student Services.</li><li> Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records.</li><li> Participates in curriculum development programs within the school and /or District.</li><li> Shares in the sponsorship of school activities and participates in faculty committees.</li><li> Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals as necessary.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Job Requirements/Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid CA credential authorizing Moderate/Severe Education Specialist, CLAD or BCLAD (Spanish) authorization, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) compliant, Added authorization in: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Deaf-Blind, Orthopedically Impaired, Other Health Impairment, and Traumatic Brain Injury (or willingness to obtain added authorizations during first year of employment)<br><br></li></ul><strong>Required Documents To Be Uploaded Into Online Application<br><br></strong><ul><li>Credential Copy</li><li>English Learner Authorization (CLAD or embedded EL)</li><li>Letter of Introduction</li><li>Resume</li><li>Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three (3) minimum within last 12 months with one from a direct supervisor)</li><li>Transcripts</li></ul>
