Warehouse Operations Supervisor

Our client, a leading logistics and warehousing company in Des Moines, Iowa, US , is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Warehouse Operations Supervisor to manage daily warehouse activities. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient and safe operations within our state-of-the-art facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and staff supervision. You will be responsible for leading a team of warehouse associates, optimizing workflow, and maintaining high standards of productivity and accuracy. This position requires a hands-on approach and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of warehouse staff, including receiving, stocking, picking, packing, and shipping operations. Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space and resources. Monitor inventory levels and accuracy, conducting regular cycle counts and physical inventories as needed. Operate and manage the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory, manage orders, and generate reports. Train, coach, and mentor warehouse associates, providing performance feedback and ensuring adherence to company policies and safety procedures. Implement and enforce safety regulations and procedures to maintain a secure and accident-free work environment. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and lower operational costs. Coordinate with transportation and other departments to ensure timely order fulfillment and delivery. Manage equipment maintenance and ensure operational readiness of all warehouse machinery. Resolve operational issues and discrepancies promptly and effectively. Maintain accurate records and generate daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Foster a positive and productive work environment for the warehouse team.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is a plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other relevant software. Strong understanding of inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping/receiving processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and manage a team effectively. Knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as operational needs dictate. Physical ability to perform warehouse tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, and walking for extended periods.
