Teacher - Remote Learning
Our students need you! Our Remote Learning Teacher will be responsible for teaching students in the special education setting in Harrisonburg, VA. Serving students ages 5 to 22, students at Minnick Schools receive the individualized support they need to thrive academically, behaviorally, and socially. With campuses across Virginia, our dedicated educators and support staff empower students to build skills, gain confidence, and find success in school and beyond.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Administer formal and informal assessments to measure student growth and mastery and to evaluate and refine instruction.
- Differentiate instruction effectively to meet the individual needs of students.
- Identify students who are academically at risk and initiate effective intervention strategies.
- Participate actively in professional development.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
- Attend and participate in Community School Committee and various Advisory Committee meetings.
Compensation and Benefits:

- $2,000 salary increase available with a master’s degree

- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Safety-Care Certification (Training provided).
- Must have a valid Virginia Drivers’ License, proof of insurance, satisfactory Driving Record (less than 5 demerit points).
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:00PM.
- Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
- Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
- Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
- Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
- Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
- Driving on a suspended or revoked license
- Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
- Injuring a person while racing - felony.
- Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
- Emergency vehicle violation - death.
- Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
- Blocking access to the service facility.
- Attempting to elude police.
- Operating an unsafe vehicle.
- Vulnerable Road User – Death.
- Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
- Passing a stopped school bus.
- Careless driving.
- Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.
