Senior Strategy & Planning Consultant, SAVP - Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Strategy

About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Strategy & Planning Consultant to join the Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) Strategy team. The role supports Strategy professionals and WIM business leaders in evaluating business innovation, growth opportunities, and strategic priorities across the wealth and investment management ecosystem. The consultant develops research, analysis, and materials that support strategic plans, business transformation, and sustainable long-term growth amid competitive and regulatory change. The Senior Consultant leads or participates in complex initiatives, exercises independent judgment on medium-risk deliverables, and quickly develops a defensible point of view on unfamiliar topics. The role supports professionals who work directly with members of the WIM Operating Committee and their teams. Success requires analytical rigor, structured and concise communication, curiosity about wealth management and investment, effectiveness in a matrixed organization, and accountability for results. The position currently offers a hybrid work schedule and is based at one of the posted locations: Charlotte, North Carolina, or San Francisco, California. Some travel is required. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are not offered. Specific compliance policies may apply to outside activities and personal investing. The base pay range is \$100,000 to \$196,000, with possible incentive opportunities. The posting end date is November 6, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of strategic plans and analyses for WIM’s long-term growth, including the annual strategic plan cycle and strategy presentations for the Board of Directors and Investor Day.
  • Support the long-term strategic vision and growth plan for assigned WIM businesses, including advisory, brokerage, digital and self-directed wealth, deposits, lending, and trust.
  • Support digital and self-directed wealth strategy through client segmentation, self-directed-to-advised funnel, pricing, and digital engagement analysis.
  • Support workplace wealth strategy across stock plan, equity compensation, and retirement offerings, including partner screening, deal economics, and diligence for partnership agreements.
  • Analyze growth opportunities in deposits, securities-based and mortgage lending, and trust and fiduciary relationships, including penetration, balances, cash and sweep economics, and client primacy drivers.
  • Track and synthesize developments in emerging areas such as digital assets, translating regulatory, competitor, and client-demand signals into implications for WIM.
  • Identify AI-enabled organizational efficiency opportunities across WIM through process, workflow, and time-allocation analysis.
  • Conduct competitive and market research on client expectations, advisor needs, regulatory developments, and technology innovations, benchmarking wealth managers, RIAs, asset managers, digital wealth platforms, private banks, and fintech entrants.
  • Build models and executive-quality materials supporting recommendations to executive management.
  • Research, evaluate, and select alternatives for business, operational, or technical assignments and challenges, using independent judgment to guide medium-risk deliverables.
  • Use AI agents and tooling as the primary method for research, modeling, competitive monitoring, and presentation development.
  • Collaborate with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals, and communicate findings clearly to Strategy and business stakeholders.
  • Lead projects or mentor more junior colleagues and rotational analysts.
  • Follow applicable risk programs, Wells Fargo policies, and procedures; fulfill risk and compliance obligations; and escalate and remediate issues appropriately.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of Strategy and Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination.
  • Analytical rigor, logical problem solving, and structured, concise communication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and manage multiple priorities to deadline.
  • Ability to reach a defensible point of view on an unfamiliar topic quickly and state plainly what is not yet known.
  • Ability to work at one of the locations listed in the job posting.
  • Some travel is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 4 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, product strategy, investment banking, or a wealth management product, field, or finance role.
  • Innovation mindset and ability to leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to accelerate business performance, demonstrated by integrating AI into one’s own working method.
  • Exposure to digital and self-directed wealth; partnerships or corporate development; workplace wealth, including stock plan and retirement; deposit, lending, or trust growth within a wealth channel; digital assets; or process improvement.
  • Strong quantitative and modeling skills, including comfort working with large and imperfect data sets.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise, well-structured materials for senior audiences with limited direction.
  • Experience contributing to a strategic planning cycle or to Board or investor materials.
