Remote Ophthalmic Receptionist - United States

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Medical Receptionist for a fully remote position (must be able to work 8am–5pm Eastern Time). For remote roles, candidates must have prior experience in an ophthalmology practice and strong knowledge of ophthalmology procedures and workflows. Experience using Modernizing Medicine EMR software is highly preferred.

We are looking for individuals who can confidently handle front-desk and technical duties, understand the nuances of eye care, and work independently. For remote hires, a laptop and phone will be provided; thus, candidates must have reliable home internet and a quiet, distraction-free workspace with wired internet connectivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls in a professional, courteous manner
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage the calendar efficiently
  • Address patient questions regarding services and procedures
  • Assist with billing inquiries and insurance verification
  • Show empathy and understanding when addressing patient needs and concerns
  • Work cooperatively with team members across various departments
  • Manage a high patient volume and multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment

This busy, multi-physician ophthalmology practice serves the greater Havertown and Media communities with a strong emphasis on patient-centered care and teamwork. Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm Eastern Time
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Starting hourly wage is $19.
  • Pay increases may be considered with additional responsibilities or tenure.
  • Benefits include paid time off (PTO), with increases in PTO allotment after 1 and 5 years of service.
  • Paid holidays are included. Health insurance is offered with a 50% employer and 50% employee cost-sharing arrangement.
  • Optional dental insurance is available and is employee-paid.
  • A 401(k) plan is provided, featuring a 4% employer match after one year of employment.
  • Compensation and benefits apply to both remote and on-site roles unless otherwise noted.

The Team

The receptionist will work alongside a diverse group of professionals, including physicians, billing specialists, technicians and scribes, optical staff, administrative assistants, and managers. All necessary training and support will be provided.
