Overview

AtkinsRéalis is part of the Alliance Partner delivering one of downtown Toronto' s most transformative transit infrastructure projects. We are hiring a Procurement Specialist to join our growing team! As Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing the project procurement obligations while driving best practices across the project.

The Procurement Specialist supports procurement activities for major projects in the Greater Toronto Area by executing sourcing, tendering, and purchasing processes in accordance with project procurement policies, requirements, and timelines. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Specialist is responsible for coordinating with internal stakeholders, interacting with suppliers, preparing procurement documentation, and ensuring compliance with client and regulatory standards. This role focuses on the execution of procurement tasks essential to achieving project cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Your role

Procurement Execution:

  • Conduct sourcing, RFQ/RFP preparation, tendering, bid evaluations, and recommendation summaries for assigned packages of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Ensure procurement files, approvals, and documentation comply with project procurement procedures, client requirements, and applicable public sector procurement rules.
  • Support negotiations by preparing commercial analyses, cost benchmarking, and supplier evaluation metrics.

Supplier Coordination:

  • Communicate directly with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations, clarify requirements, track deliverables, and resolve issues.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to delivery schedules, quality, and contract compliance.
  • Escalate risks, delays, or supplier concerns to the Procurement Manager.

Stakeholder Support:

  • Work closely with engineering, project controls, construction, and client teams to gather technical requirements and procurement inputs.
  • Provide status updates on procurement progress, open bids, purchase order commitments, and delivery timelines.
  • Help identify procurement risks and contribute to mitigation actions.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to project procurement regulations, our code of conducts standards, corporate policies, and contract requirements.
  • Maintain audit‑ready records, including tender documents, evaluation notes, approvals, contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Support compliance reviews and internal/external audits as required.

Reporting & Performance Tracking:

  • Prepare procurement status updates, cost summaries, and KPI‑related data for the Procurement Manager and project leadership.
  • Maintain data accuracy within procurement systems and ERP tools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

About you

Education & Experience:

  • Diploma or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3–5+ years of procurement or purchasing experience, preferably in major projects, construction, rail, infrastructure, or public-sector environments.
  • Working toward SCMP, CPSM, or equivalent certification is an asset.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of sourcing, tendering, evaluation, negotiation fundamentals, and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with public sector procurement guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with procurement tools, vendor management systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced project setting.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with GTA and Canadian suppliers, contractors, and industry procurement practices.
  • Knowledge of major capital project environments, particularly transportation, infrastructure, or rail systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Additional information

Expected compensation for this role is between $100,200 - $137,700 CAD annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
