I suffered a hypoxic brain injury in an avalanche while snowboarding in the Alps, which has left me wheelchair-bound, speech-impaired, and with Action Myoclonus / Lance Adams Syndrome. I take medication to control my jerks and shakiness and to prevent seizures. You should be aware of signs of epilepsy and protocols to follow.

I have limited mobility and require assistance with daily activities. I try to stay active, often doing 5k wheelchair walks in my local park, cycling on my trike (up to 25 km), and walking with a stroller. I have Dysphagia, so monitoring my swallowing is necessary. Tasks include helping with simple daily activities like opening letters, applying toothpaste, and preparing food—though I can\'t handle hot or sharp items. I can transfer to and from my wheelchair independently and can toilet myself.

The role involves working on Sundays for 10 hours, covering for my senior carer during their absence or leave. I prefer someone physically fit, able to cycle, cook, and who enjoys engaging in activities around the city or local area. Some downtime may occur if I am fatigued. A sense of humor and ability to handle my eclectic music taste are appreciated.

Applicants must have previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities, demonstrating initiative and physical support skills. I am 179cm tall and weigh 84kg, requiring carers who can support me physically and with persuasion to facilitate my daily enjoyment.

You will receive:

£16.00 per hour

A pension if eligible

5.6 weeks of annual leave pro-rata

Full certified training on all aspects of the role

Hours available:

Minimum of 10 hours per week on Sundays, usually between 9:30 am and 7:30 pm

Potential for additional hours during holidays or sickness

What’s Required:

Assist with all aspects of personal care

Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities, demonstrating initiative

Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by employer)

#J-18808-Ljbffr
