Once the employee is at full performance and meets the minimum requirements of the Proficiency Advancement process, they are eligible for the non-competitive promotion through the series to the <a href="https://www2.montgomerycountymd.gov/OHRClassification/download/002215.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener" data-uw-rm-ext-link="" data-uw-pdf-br="2" data-uw-pdf-doc="">Permitting and Code Compliance Inspector III</a>, Grade 23.</p><p data-pasted="true">The position conducts and documents inspections/complaints related to commercial building construction projects for compliance with applicable building codes, approved plans, permit requirements, engineering standards, regulations, and guidelines:</p><ul><li>Review and approve building plans. </li><li>Monitor construction sites.</li><li>Inspect buildings/structures to ensure compliance with all related specifications and requirements.</li><li>Work with engineers, other professionals, and Permit Technicians to ensure individual permitting cases are processed cordially and expeditiously. </li><li>Provide written or oral feedback on findings. </li><li>Suggest alternatives to conventional acceptable construction or installation methods or materials thatcomply withcodes.</li><li>Issue violation notices, citations, or stop-work orders for non-compliance or initiate abatement procedures.</li><li>Gather evidence, prepare cases, and testify in court as an expert witness. </li><li>Educate and disseminate technical and procedural requirements to clients, developers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders through outreach efforts, meetings, and discussions conducted in the office or field. </li></ul><p>This position requires the ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications quickly and accurately in the field to ensure compliance with the approved plans and applicable codes.<strong> </strong></p><p>Much of the work is performed in a field setting with exposure to the physical demands and hazards associated with construction and other outdoor sites. This work involves walking over rough, uneven, and occasionally slippery surfaces and climbing ladders to access elevated work areas and rooftops. </p><p><br></p><ul><li><p>This position <u>REQUIRES </u>the possession of a valid driver's license from the applicant's state of residence and the ability to drive <u>a county vehicle</u> to attend meetings, transport materials, or perform work at locations outside the office, which include locations throughout Montgomery County.</p></li><li><p>This position designates one that requires filing a Financial Disclosure Statement, and you will be required to disclose information about your financial affairs. </p></li><li><p>This position requires successful completion of a pre-employment medical evaluation, which includes a physical examination and drug screening.</p></li><li><p>This position requires regular work in an off-site setting and will not be performed exclusively at an MGC office location.
