Electrician Apprenticeship
The Electrical Training Alliance of South Florida (ETASF) is a joint program between the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Apprenticeship programs are designed to have students work and go to school at the same time. This allows students to make a living, learn valuable on-the-job experience, and complete the education requirements needed to become a Journeyman Wireman. This is a four-year, tuition-free apprenticeship that combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Apprentices complete at least 8,000 hours of field training and 720 hours of classroom instruction, starting at $21.49 per hour with regular wage increases based on performance and academic progress. The first 2,000 hours (typically the first year) are probationary, and apprentices are responsible for purchasing required textbooks each year. # **How To Apply** Step 1: Meet Minimum Requirements \- Be at least 18 years of age \- Provide High School or College transcripts showing a passing grade in Algebra. _To verify your foreign school documents, please contact Grethel Curbelo at gcurbelo@dadeschools.net only if completed outside the U.S._ _If your education was completed in the United States, proceed to the next step._ \- If you did not take or did not pass Algebra, you must enroll in the Electrical Training Alliance online Tech Math Course and provide documentation upon successful completion of the course. \- Provide a High School or College diploma. \- Valid Driver’s License \- Own Transportation 🔘 Need to Complete Algebra? Applicants are eligible for testing only after the application process is complete. It consists of two sections— Algebra and Reading Comprehension — with a short break in between. Test results are typically available within two business days.
