This critical role serves a dual purpose: providing direct, expert psychiatric care to veterans and providing clinical supervision to a dedicated team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) serving the same population. The ideal candidate is a leader, clinician, and collaborator who is deeply comfortable managing complex psychiatric conditions, including high-risk presentations.</div> <div><strong><br>Key Responsibilities:</strong></div> <div><strong><br>Direct Clinical Care (Approx. 60%):</strong></div> <ul> <li>Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments for veterans.</li> <li>Develop, implement, and monitor individualized medication management plans.</li> <li>Provide brief supportive therapy and psychoeducation integrated with pharmacotherapy.</li> <li><strong>Demonstrate expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of suicidality, self-harm ideation, and complex trauma (PTSD).</strong></li> <li>Manage psychiatric comorbidities common in veteran populations (e.g., PTSD, MDD, Anxiety, TBI, Substance Use Disorders).</li> <li>Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation in our secure EHR.</li> </ul> <div><strong><br>Clinical Supervision & Leadership (Approx. 40% PAID):</strong></div> <ul> <li>Provide scheduled, structured clinical supervision to a team of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs).</li> <li>Review cases, provide guidance on diagnosis, treatment planning, and pharmacologic interventions.</li> <li>Ensure adherence to best practices, clinical guidelines, and organizational protocols, particularly regarding risk management.</li> <li>Support the professional development and competency of the NP team in veteran-centric care.</li> <li>Be available for urgent clinical consultation to the NP team as needed.</li> <li>Collaborate with the clinical leadership team on program development and quality improvement initiatives.</li> </ul> <div><strong><br>Required Qualifications:</strong></div> <ul> <li> <strong>Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)</strong> from an accredited institution.</li> <li><strong>Board Certification in Psychiatry.</strong></li> <li> <strong>Active, unrestricted medical license</strong> in your state of residence and eligibility for licensure in multiple states (as required).</li> <li><strong>Active DEA registration.</strong></li> <li> <strong>Minimum of 5 years</strong> of post-residency experience practicing psychiatry.</li> <li> <strong>Minimum of 2 years</strong> of demonstrated experience treating veteran, active-duty, or military-connected populations.</li> <li><strong>Proven experience and skill in managing high-acuity patients, including advanced competency in suicide risk assessment and mitigation.</strong></li> <li><strong>Formal experience providing clinical supervision to mid-level providers (NPs/PAs).</strong></li> <li>Experience with trauma-informed care and pharmacotherapy for PTSD.</li> <li>Must carry own professional liability insurance (malpractice) with minimum coverage of <br>1M/1<em>M</em>/3M.</li> </ul> <div><strong>Highly Desired Qualifications:</strong></div> <ul> <li>Prior military service or experience working within the VA/DoD system.</li> <li>Added qualifications or significant experience in Addiction Psychiatry.</li> <li>Experience with telepsychiatry platforms and hybrid care models.</li> <li>Training in evidence-based psychotherapies (e.g., CBT, CPT).</li> </ul> <div><strong>What We Offer (1099 Contractor):</strong></div> <ul> <li> <strong>Highly Competitive Compensation:</strong> A substantial hourly or per-session rate commensurate with this senior, dual-role position PAID supervision per NP on team.</li> <li> <strong>Flexible Schedule:</strong> Ability to set your own clinical and supervision hours.</li> <li> <strong>Administrative Burden Removed:</strong> We handle client onboarding, billing, insurance, and marketing.</li> <li> <strong>Supportive Infrastructure:</strong> Access to a secure EHR, teletherapy platform, and IT support.</li> <li> <strong>Focused Mission:</strong> Lead and contribute to a program dedicated exclusively to veteran mental health.</li> <li> <strong>Collaborative Environment:</strong> Connect with a network of dedicated therapists and clinicians.</li> </ul> <div> <strong>Commitment to Care:</strong><br>We believe in providing unwavering support to our nation's veterans.
