Our team is dedicated to building strong, sustainable, and functional structures for communities across the region.</p><p><br></p><p>We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support the design and engineering of cast-in-place and precast concrete structures, including high-capacity concrete storage tanks, footings, precast/prestressed building components, bridge elements, underground drainage and utility structures, and other specialty structures.</p><p><br></p><p>This position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering and Design.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Position Summary</strong></p><p>Primary responsibilities will be to design and prepare calculations for the design of Cast-in-place and precast concrete structures. Types of structures will include high-capacity concrete storage tanks, footings, precast/prestressed building components, bridge elements, underground drainage/utility structures, and other specialty structures.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare structural designs and calculations to be submitted for approval by customers and third-party reviewers.</li><li>Prepare engineering details/drawings for and work closely with drafting team to ensure accurate and efficient completion of submittal drawings and production drawings.</li><li>Maintain knowledge of all applicable design codes, standards, and requirements.</li><li>Provide technical assistance/support to production and quality control teams.</li><li>Provide to clients, production/construction teams, and managerial staff engineering requirements for construction of various designs, modifications, and structural repairs.</li><li>Determine design criteria and standards for projects and structures when not given by project specifications.</li><li>Assist sales team to determine project parameters used in the bidding process.</li><li>Review and approve in-house and outside ready-mix concrete designs.</li><li>Possess a thorough understanding of the quality control programs; observe and assist in maintaining the programs of all divisions.</li><li>Maintain a thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of jump-form construction, buildings, bridges, box culverts, concrete pipe, retaining walls, storm/sanitary sewer structures, and other related precast concrete components.</li><li>Observe and assist in maintaining and developing plant and drawings standards.</li><li>Collaborate with architects and contractors to ensure efficient project progress.</li><li>Collaborate with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.</li><li>Observe safety testing or component load testing as required by projects.</li><li>Participate in industry related associations and organizations.</li><li>Maintain required continuing education for all licenses and certifications.</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required; Structural Emphasis required.</li><li>Licensure as professional engineer (PE) required.</li><li>Must be familiar with applicable building codes, ASTM specifications, ACI specifications, and any other applicable codes used in concrete design.</li><li>Must have a thorough understanding of company Quality Control Program (Construction and Products).</li><li>Thorough understanding of structural engineering principles, practices, and tools.</li><li>Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analysis software.</li><li>Thorough understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.</li><li>Ability to identify and solve complex problems.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Ability to be both creative and analytical.</li><li>Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Travel & Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.</li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.</li><li>Must be able to travel to various project sites.</li><li>Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive pay</li><li>Comprehensive benefits package, including:</li><li>401(k) with company match and Roth option</li><li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Paid time off</li><li>Short-term and long-term disability</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li><li>Group cancer plan</li></ul><p>Job Type: Full-time</p><p>Schedule:</p><ul><li>8 hour shift</li><li>Day shift</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Ability to Commute:</strong></p><ul><li>Wichita, KS 67204 <strong>or</strong> McPherson, KS 67460 (Required)</li></ul><p><strong>Ability to Relocate:</strong></p><ul><li>Relocate to Wichita, KS 67204 <strong>or</strong> McPherson, KS 67460 before starting work (Required)</li></ul><p>Work Location: In person</p>
